We are Flemming and May Brit Hald. Our story starts back in Denmark in 1990. I was just off my mission from Salt Lake City. About a month later I went to a roadshow in Aalborg, a neighboring ward of mine. It was there I met May Brit for the first time and immediately I was mesmerized by her beauty. She had already made plans to go to the US to study in early 1991, so I wasn't part of her plans. However, I called her and visited with her as often as occasion would permit. I even drove over an hour just to have her give me a haircut. She left in May '91 and didn't come back home to Denmark until December of '93 and then only a few weeks over Christmas. It was then I seized the moment and proposed to her to which she responded "let's just be friends". I was heartbroken. So early in '94 she went back to the US and I went to Copenhagen to start my studies. Eight months later I received a wedding invitation from her. Not thrilled about that. She went on to have 5 kids. In '96 I married and ended up with 2 kids. In 2008, our family moved to Utah only 15 min away from May Brit and her family. We reconnected and our families ended up spending time together on the holidays. Then the unexpected happened: In 2017, May Brit's husband was diagnosed with colon cancer and fought a battle for the next 11 months before he passed away in 2018. Then in 2019, another unexpected thing happened when my wife was diagnosed with colon cancer. She likewise fought a tough battle for the next 15 months before she passed away in 2020. I proposed to May Brit in late 2020 and I learned second, not third, is a charm. This time the response was in the affirmative and we started our venture in 2021 when we tied the knot. Soon after we were able to start a business together we chose to call Hald & Reyes Homes.
